Prior Military
Your prior military experience is needed in the Army National Guard. The Army National Guard shares so many specialties with the active services, your area of training/experience may automatically make you an expert, allowing you to share your expertise with other Guard members.
As a citizen-soldier who serves part-time in the Army National Guard, you can:
- Have a part-time job with full-time benefits
- Earn money for college
- Earn a paycheck
- Serve Your Community and Country
- Gain Career Opportunities
- Find Adventure and Challenge
You can do all of this with part-time service while maintaining a full-time civilian life. Typically, you serve as little as one weekend a month and two weeks a year; the two weeks of annual training are typically held during the summer.
Here's some of the categories which may fit you below.
- Officer (Prior Service Officer or currently serving in any other branch of service as an Officer)
- Warrant Officer - If you are currently a Warrant Officer or have experience as a Warrant Officer in any branch except for the Army National Guard.
- Prior Service Enlisted - if you have any prior military experience
- Warrant Officer Candidate Program (Prior Service Enlisted or current members). This program may be just right for you if you are an E-5 or higher currently serving in the Army National Guard or USAR, or transitioning from any active component.
There are some basic requirements that need to be met. Applicants must:
- Be between the ages of 18 and 42
- Score 110 or higher on the General Aptitude Area Test
- Be a high school graduate or pass the General Education Development Test (GED)
- Be a US citizen by birth or naturalization
- Be able to successfully pass all events on the Army Physical Fitness Test
- Meet certain mandatory technical qualifications for your specific MOS
- Meet certain medical, security and licensing requirements (depending
on your MOS)
